Wedding Wednesday: July 6, 2011

Last Wedding Wednesday post.

We're finally married, back from the honeymoon and happy as can be! Nothing has really changed for us except I'm now Mrs. B. (Madame B)  It's weird to be called by a new name. Seeing it in writing is one thing, but verbal is different. It will take some getting used to.

The name change process is going to be a long one. It's taking longer to get the official changes done because we had a postal strike and not everything got submitted after the wedding. There are so many places you use your name. Just last night we bought dog food for Beta and the rewards program is under my maiden name.

I got a new picture taken for my license and signed my new name. Need to work on the signature a bit. I had to sign it twice last night when we returned my leased vehicle.

Life is sort of settling down to normal. We still have a lot of post-wedding things to take care of. Return some vases, organize, clean and sell what wedding things we can. I have a friend who is looking at the tulle and the lights we used. Hopefully that works out.

I'm not sure what to replace my weekly Wednesday posts with now. I'll need to think of something fun.

Wedding Wednesday: June 15, 2011

3 DAYS!!!!
I am getting married THIS SATURDAY!

I am so incredibly excited! My maid of honour arrives today! I only get to see her every 4 or 5 months so the fact that she's here Wednesday to Sunday is awesome! It will be busy no doubt, but at least we get to see each other.

Everything that we needed to do is done. There are a few things tomorrow and Friday that have to get organized, but they are simple.

I even had a nightmare this week. I figured I was over those. Nothing says nervous like dreaming you got married on the wrong day. Check the full story here.
I can't believe after 1.5 years of engagement we are finally here. It felt like it would take forever but the last 2 weeks have been agonizingly slow! Let's get married already!!!

We aren't leaving for our honeymoon until the week after the wedding so expect there will be a post next week!

  • Bought reader/videographer thank you gifts
  • Buy Booze
  • Make Centerpieces

    Wedding Wednesday: June 8, 2011

I would like to be able to say that I want time to slow down, but I'd be lying. The wedding is so close I can't wait!! The last 20 days have flown by and we're now sitting at 10 days. I'm sitting fairly calm at the moment. I feel like everything is taken care of, and all we have to do is the little things only we can.
I'm currently sitting at a point of excited and calm. I actually told my caterer yesterday I don't feel stressed. I meant it. I'm sure beneath the calm exterior my insides are freaking out, but so far I don't notice.
    What was accomplished:
    • Put together chart for tables
    • Met with Priest and delivered everything he needs
    • Printed more table number pictures
    • Printed Table Chart
    • Collected list of taxi’s people can call after the reception

    • Decide/Buy readers/videographer thank you gifts

    4 WEEKS
    31 DAYS!!!

I am just a wee bit excited at this point. I can't wait to be married!!! Frenchie and I have been living together for 3.5 years. Dating for 4.5. I've been told that the little piece of paper you sign changes everything. My hope is that whatever changes, is for the better. Being able to call Frenchie my husband instead of a boyfriend or fiance means so much. I'm over joyed and there is so much love.
The to-dos.... I'm hoping this list starts shrinking soon...

    Wedding Wednesday: May 4, 2011

We are now into May! Only 1.5 months away!We have 9 days to receive 58 RSVP's. I have a feeling we will be making lots of phone calls. (and by we, I mean our parents)

We kind of slowed down a little over the past two weeks. Easter took a bit out of us and it's taken a bit to get back into the groove.
We have a lot of outstanding tasks that should have been completed in April. They didn't NEED to be done, but should have since it would lessen the load in May.

    What was accomplished:
    • Take my dress to my parents for safe keeping
    • Finalize reception music - need Mother/Son song
    • Collect photos of Frenchie for slide show
    • Complete ceremony program and print
    • Picked up marriage license
    • Take rings in to be re-sized
What needs to be done in May:
    • Email other guest hotel with new contact information
    • Wrap bridal party gifts
    • Decide/Buy parents/readers/musician/videographer thank you gifts
    • Write toast to parents/bridal party and wife and husband
    • Put slideshow together
    • Confirm wedding night hotel room
    • Collect list of taxi’s people can call
    • Rent Easel (or buy) for the guestbook photo
    • Decide on more table number pictures
    • Buy wedding favours and stuff bags

    Wedding Wednesday: April 20 Check-in

    2 months
    8.5 weeks
    59 days

Every time I look at my checklist, things are moved into May. Can't do this until we have that. Have to wait on such and such before doing those. I'm hoping I can get a few things checked off that aren't difficult and don't have any dependancies.

    Good news:
My caterer phoned and found me a bartender! He said he will take care of finding another one and not to worry. I feel confident that it is now taken care of. We need to buy some booze and some cups and whatever else we'll need but at least I know we will have a bartender.
My dress finally fits! After having to take it in 3 inches, it finally fits. I should have trusted my gut and went with the size smaller.

    Sad news:
My cousin I wanted to be an usher for the wedding has said no and declined the wedding invitation as well. I'm sad because I was closest to him as a kid. I've emailed another brother from the same family.(there are 4 and we used to spend a lot of time together) Hopefully he will do it.

    What was accomplished:
    • Caterer found us a bartender!
    • Final dress fitting
    • Date Night: We went out for a nice dinner
    • Contacted wedding planner and got a detailed list to her of everything we have so far. I'm super excited to have her for the month/day of.
    • Appointment to meet with coordinator booked
    • Booked Mani/Pedi appointments
    • Emailed florist with new email address and to make appointment to meet
    • Emailed one guest hotel contact with new email address
What needs to be done in April:
    • Email other guest hotel with new contact information
    • Take my dress to my parents for safe keeping
    • Finalize reception music - need Mother/Son song
    • Collect photos of Frenchie for slide show
    • Complete ceremony program and print
    • Wrap bridal party gifts
    • Make appointment to get marriage license
    • Take rings in to be re-sized

    Wedding Wednesday: April 13 Check-in

I swear I am at the spa every other weekend! (Not that I'm complaining...) Waxing, facial, hair cut, trail, massage. Rinse, repeat. The things we do to look good on our wedding day...

I'm still freaking out about the bartending. I have emailed the caterer 3 times! He's been out of province but still! We're cutting it really close. I thought I had one lined up, but he fell through. He did however send me a name for another person who offered. I'm waiting for her to email me and discuss.

    What was accomplished:
    • All groomsmen measurements are in. Tuxes can be ordered
    • Asked sister to do a reading and co-MC - yes!
    • Asked future brother-in-law to do reading - yes!
    • Asked Frenchies aunt to do a reading - yes!
    • Had 2nd dress fitting - needs to be taken in (again!) and hemmed
    • Date night - rented Unstoppable
    • Frenchie to provide guest list for his Bachelor party
What needs to be done in April:
    • Email caterer about bartending for the 3rd time. I'm really stressed about this!!!
    • Complete ceremony program and print
    • Final Dress fitting
    • Finalize reception music
    • Ask my cousin to be usher - email sent, just waiting for reply
    • Collect photos of Frenchie for slide show
    • Book Mani/Pedi appointments for me - I found a place that will do the nails I want
    • Wrap bridal party gifts
    • Make appointment to get marriage license
    • Take rings in to be re-sized

    Wedding Wednesday: April 6 Check-in

    2.5 months out
    10.5 weeks
     74 days
Any way you look at it, we are getting really close!
The more I look at the to-do list, the more I realize there really isn't a whole lot left.
There are small details, and a few big things, but the rest will sort of take care of itself (I hope....)
We are in a new month, so I thought it would be fitting to list the entire list and start knocking things off.
We have a few things leftover from March that need to get done still.

We got side tracked the past couple weeks for some unexpected family things.
Frenchie's grandmother will be looking over our wedding from heaven.
My aunt may or may not be able to make it to the wedding. She has an illness that currently has her confined to the hospital. (please pray for her, her family and my family that the Lord may heal her)
I would love to tell you readers all about the above, but I can't. It's too hard for me to do that just yet

On to happier things! (red highlighted tasks are leftovers from March)

    What was accomplished:
    • Reminded last groomsmen to get measured
    • Asked one of Frenchies cousins to be an usher and hand out ceremony programs. (he said yes :D )
    • Both "freedom to marry forms" are filled out by our parents. It's official, we can actually get married now ;)
    • Began writing Prayers of the Faithful. We want to personalize a little and include our family who can't be with us for our special day

What needs to be done in April:
    • Email caterer about bartending for the 3rd time. I'm really stressed about this!!!
    • Ask family to do special readings and roles for the wedding
    • DATE NIGHT - We tried but the movie theatre was way too full. This means we get two in April right?
    • Complete ceremony program and print - This was a March task, but there is more to it then I thought.
    • Finalize reception music
    • Ask my cousin to be usher - email sent, just waiting for reply
    • Frenchie to provide guest list for his Bachelor party
    • Collect photos of Frenchie for slide show
    • Book Mani/Pedi appointments for me - I found a place that will do the nails I want
    • Get second fitting for dress done - Decide if it needs to be hemmed or not

    Wedding Wednesday: March 30 Check-in

There was a major list of things we needed to get done in March. I haven't posted them all here as that would be overwhelming and unnecessary. A lot of them are all smaller tasks needing to be done for a larger task.
All of that has now shifted to April. I believe that Frenchie is starting to see how many little things we still have left to do. They are all just a phone call or email away to completion, but for some reason, never seem to get done.

Next week I'll have a new set of "needs to be done" to share.

    What was accomplished:
    • Get quotes for alcohol
    • Decide what to buy as groomsmen gifts and ordered
    • Booked pre-wedding massage/spa for Frenchie and I
    • Got my dad to sign the Free to marry form required by the Catholic church
    • Emailed caterer and one bartending company about prices
What needs to be done in March:
    • Ask family to do special readings and roles for the wedding
    • Complete ceremony program and print
    • Finalize reception music
    • DATE NIGHT

    Another Milestone! 100 days...

    100 Days

We are officially 100 days until we get married!!!
I can't believe that tomorrow we are into double digits!

I am so excited and over the top in love.
Yesterday's Wedding Wednesday post has a list a mile long of things still left to do (and just in March no less)
The next 100 days are going to go by so fast. I remember wanting the days to go by faster when we first got engaged and now I think they are moving just right. Ask me again in 2 months and I'll say I've run out of time.

    Wedding Wednesday: March 9 Check-in

Things are slowing done. There aren't a lot of things left. A few things each week get knocked off the list. The list for March looks long and tedious.

Have you seen my Wedding Nightmares page? As the days get less and less, I fear the dreams will become more frequent. For a good laugh and "what is wrong with this chick?" Have a read. I'll update it as the dreams/nightmares come.

    What was accomplished:
    • Made chair sashes - I ran out of tulle so the head table will be the only ones with sashes
    • Appointment set for next week to discuss readings and music selections with Father Andrew
    • Laid out preliminary ceremony program
    • Booked Videographer - A family friend will be doing it. He did both of my sisters weddings as well
    • Boxed up all the decorations in their bins and labeled
    • All the tongue depressors are painted that we'll use for our ceremony programs (paddle fans)
What needs to be done in March: (Red means task has been on there long enough......according to me)

    • Email groomsmen and remind them to get measurements done.

    Wedding Wednesday: February 23 Check-in

I was starting to get a little antsy with not having anything to check off. This weekend we got a few things done. We're in the part of the planning right now where things are waiting for other things to happen. It's hard to wait to do something, but hopefully over the next 3 weeks we can do somethings that aren't dependant on others to save ourselves some time later.

    Wedding Wednesday: February 16 Check-in

This week has been fairly low key in the wedding department. We did quite a few things, but nothing major. I honestly don't know if there's anything major left! It's all down to the details now.
    What was accomplished:
    • Invitations are in. Need to pick them up
    • Cancelled hall for night before wedding. Moved it to day after so we can do a clean up the next day.
    • Tried chair cover on hall chairs. Fits!
    • Decorated Ceremony Program basket
    • Laid out seating plan. We are doing tables rather than seats. The preliminary tables are done, now we wait for the yes's and no's and rearrange people accordingly.
    • RSVP Cards decided upon and ordered
    • Maps created and being printed
    • Emailed priest for meeting. Waiting to hear back.
    • First set of table numbers printed.
    What needs to be done:
    • Start making chair sashes
    • Call out-of-country groomsman and tell him the measurements he needs to send us
    • Collect missing addresses
    • Rent chair covers - decide how many we need
    • Create 10 more table numbers
    • Pick up dress from parents house
    • Mail Maid of Honours dress to her. She was supposed to come down to visit, but plans changed

8/50: Together for Life by Joseph M. Camplin

    Together for Life
Together for Life by Joseph M. Champlin
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Frenchie and I read through this book to help us plan our wedding ceremony. We are having a full Catholic Mass. The book was laid out really nicely and easy to get through. The provided commentary for the readings was very helpful for us to choose.
I feel much more comfortable with our reading choices and the layout of the Mass than I did prior to reading this book.

This book doesn't count towards any challenges as it is under 100 pages.
