"Do you read only one book at a time,
or do you have several going at once?"

I typically have at least 2 - 3 books on the go. One in the car on audio or on my iPod, one on my ereader for those crammed train rides, and one book to read everywhere else.

Depending on the books I might focus more on one than the other. This happens when I get one of those books I just can't put down. This time? Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. I put my other two books aside in order to finish this one.

"Why do you read the genre that you do? What draws you to it?"

I've gotten mainly into reading YA. I like to mix it up with adult fiction every once in a while and read a "big girl book" as I like to call them. I read them because they are quick, fun and light. They are getting better and better in the writing quality every year. The topics are becoming more like what people deal with all the time. The different perscpective is refreshing. 

 YA is a huge market and not just for young adults anymore. I am in an online book club and I have to say that a lot of the people in it are adults and they read YA. It's much more widely accepted (I attribute this to Harry Potter and Twilight).

"What book influenced or changed your life? How did it influence/change you?"

The book that immediately comes to mind is Still Alice by Lisa Genova. This book is about a a Harvard professor that develops early-onset Alzheimer's disease. The book is told from her perspective beautifully. I read this book on a plane back from vacation and I can tell you people must have thought I was crazy. I sobbed through most of it, smiled, laughed and couldn't put it down.

This book made me realize how important our memory is, how precious it is. Alice was an amazingly strong character and the way she dealt with the disease was incredible. I will forever remember this book and how it made me feel. I cherish my family and the memories of them more.

We all know about alzheimer's and what it does. Genova made me see it from the affecteds point of view and I thank her for that. It showed just how awful it would be to experience it yourself.

My favorite book review in the past 3 months was of Shadow Hills by Anastasia Hopcus. This book was her debut novel and I can't tell you how many people I recommend it to. I loved it, and although the review might not do it justice, trust me, you should read this book.

Do you judge a book by its cover?

My Answer: Sometimes I do. A cover will be enough to make me look twice at a book and take a closer look. It will also make me uninterested. However, there are other times, where the cover is horrible and I'll read the book anyways based on recommendations. I've also been duped a couple of times by amazing covers and poor books.

Books Are A Girl's Best Friend

Do you use a rating system for your reviews and if so, what is it and why?

I don't really have a rating system other than what is suggested on Goodreads mixed with a little of my own explanations.

• 1 Star - Didn't Like it. I probably won't pick up another book by this author or continue a series
• 2 Stars - It was OK. It didn't do a lot for me, but it wasn't horrible. Depending on the author, I could read more of them if this wasn't a common occurrence.
• 3 Stars - I liked it. I usually rate with 3 stars if the book was good. Not amazing, not spectacular, just good.
• 4 Stars - I REALLY liked it. I give a lot of 4 stars out. The book is awesome, I would recommend it to someone and would definitely read more.
• 5 Stars - A book has to be pretty amazing to get 5 stars. I will be thinking about this book long after reading it, remember to recommend it to everyone I know. I'll most likely read a 5 star book again.

How many blogs do you follow?

My Google Reader Feed says I follow 57. Those are split between book bloggers, a few of my Nest friends, a few Knot friends and some girls from the pole world. I even have some blogs of people I know IN REAL LIFE.

I don't get around to reading them every day. There are a lot of times I come on after a couple of days and get through just those that are my most important.

Friday Blog Hop (#1)

Crazy For Books does a book blogger hop every Friday. This will be my first time participating.
I'm not solely a book blogger, but it does take up quite a few posts. Thanks for hoping on over to my blog!
I hope you enjoy my blog and find some books you may wish to read. My reading has slowed down a little in the recent month because of summer, but hopefully it will pick up when the warm weather ends.

Answer: 
In my possession on my shelves/floor there are 38. (Yes, I went and counted) 
I currently have 7 on hold at the library that I'm waiting for as well.
I also have 155 on my goodreads to-read shelf.
